I had a college professor insisted on calling me 'Dennis' - don't know why. "Is Mr. Beaird here, Dennis?" "That's 'Dorris', sir" "Absolutely, Dennis!" Yeah, the looks I'd get when I'd wear a skirt to class.
I've also been called 'Debra', 'Donna', 'Joyce', and 'Thingy'. Again, unless it involves money - don't really care. Just spell the last name correctly.
