FWIW, Australia is a gigantic continent misrepresented on traditional maps; it's about the same size as the continental USA comprising a thin strip of green around a colossal desert wasteland ideal for solar panels. Interior climate is similar to Arizona except there's a lot more of Australia to cover in panels. Meanwhile across the ditch in New Zealand, climate varies from subtropical to alpine with hydro and geothermal already yielding more than 80% of electricity from renewable resources, but NZ still sets itself the same improvement % targets as the industrialized West.
