We usually use WinRAR, as it can be controlled externally and generate a list of included and checked files.
We also used the zip implementation of dfPUG - wrapper around compiled C code of zLib. If you are not a member, I think 50$ cost, but optionally wrapped into a vfp GUI if you/your customer need that
