Mostly agreeing with you and Jos.

Depends on operational definition of "information" - is fake news information ? As it is spread to create untrue impression, some might classify it under "disinformation", but not under "information".
OTOH certain meta data of identified attempts at disinformation might give you further real info - so such blurbs still carry usable info if identified and analyzed correctly.

>Once we start restricting what people can see or read, no matter how ignominious that information might be, we diminish our world.
>That might be temporarily necessary in times of war, etc, but it should never become a norm.

Yupp - including spreading untrue descriptions, for instance like the Sicily invasion being shrouded by later 007 author via planting dead body with false military info via submarine release. Also my main reason to argue against Trumps "standard" of "truthful hyperbole". Smarter to avoid all "deals" made under this mind set, as the deceivers target is NOT a "meeting of minds", which is basic rule even in biz law, but an attempt to "win" either by creating false impression of facts in the opposite mind before signing (which is almost exact definition of fraud) or later to redefine meaning of contract wording in a court of law.

Also the for me typical Trump pattern first to create a problem/disagreement with great fanfare in the press, which is then "resolved" by ingenous Trump negociation - which often resultsin new contracts with no real benefit/substance except trying to enforce positive beliefs in some voting groups.

With Iran the problems of said tactic seem to show early on, as Trump has to oscillate between breaking his vow to decrease deployed troop count and picturing him as a hard/successful negotiator. I certainly do give him credit for trying out his "dealing power" by opening high level discussion with North Korea- but reserve judgement until I can
a) read at least summaries of contracts signed
b) have observed as far as possible my non-CIA/NSA sources allow me, how different actual handling is different due to/after the contract.

//upd:
I also give him credit for pointing out some truths previous admins did not often speak out about to the press or voters, like Gernany weaseling out of necessary AND agreed-upon military spending. PC speech IS to a large degree disinformation as well, so here Trump sometimes is a correcting factor. Our politicians also rack up a considerable amount of lies and "untruths".
