So, today I shut down an SBT accounting system (VFP 6) that I installed at the client in 2001.
The operating functions have been replaced by custom .NET/Sql server applications and the basic accounting functions have been put on QB on line.
By any measurement, the client ROI's on that system was huge.
While using that system for all its business functions, the client's revenues and profits more than doubled and it's IT costs were the lowest in its industry.
So let's hear it for SBT and VFP 6. They were winners!!!

Also -
at another client, today was the announced go live date for some proprietary software supplied by a multi-million dollar manufacturer.
This is a big deal.
Two days ago, the manufacturer's trainer reviewed some of the functions with the user (for the first time) and discovered that some key features were missing (that has happened twice before.)
We haven't heard the new go-live date, but this will be fourth one.
I was taught that you make sure that you know what has to be done before you estimate how long it will take to do it.
This must be something new.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
