Bought it and looked at it, but have not yet programmed in it. Actually its more dBaseIV compatible that Clipper compatible, but has a number of Clipper-type features. Those that I know that are using it like it and report that it has very few problems, and if you know Clipper/FP syntax, you will have no problem with the language.

I'd have to check this again, but I think xBase compiles to machine code so you can link it to C++ routines easily.

The "official" OOP sucessor to Clipper is Computer Associates' "Visual Objects". I have not used this _thing_ since version 2.0. Visual Objects bears about as much relation to Clipper as an elepant does to a mouse -- they're not very similar and Clipper procedure code did not carry over to VO _unless_ you want to run exclusively under DOS emulation.

I suspect that with CA's famous customer support (or absence thereof) I probably will not use it again unless a legacy app absolutely requires it. I guarantee you that just about anyone who has worked with CA in VO absolutely loves M$ and VFP -- not that the people at CA don't try to be helpful. They do, but Wang does not give them nearly enough resource to do the job.
