>>Where have you been?
>>In case you can't make it out, that's a US rep saying "you lie"during the state of the union.

I remember it well- and what came after. I don't remember anybody, even the culprit, maintaining it was acceptable. Full credit to the Dem House for not heckling Trump in revenge- but a cynic would say there's no need when you can be confident that partisan media will snipe all through it.

>>Yes, and there wasn't anyone saying that the POTUS was not a US citizen, was there?

According to Politico at the time, that rumor was started by HRC campaign supporters circulating a devious email. Her campaign denies it to this day, but they also denied paying for the pee pee dossier last time and we only know how they shafted Bernie or sneaked debate questions in advance because Podesta's emails were hacked. I perceive a pattern that thankfully is not shown by the incumbent- quite the opposite it sometimes seems. Speaking of whom, here's something abut Trump's participation in the birther controversy as far back as the 2012 race. In linguistic terms, I see no absolute Trump statement one way or another- unlike the irony of multiple authoritative slaps directed at him by the reporting staff. Bermann's first sentence claims uncertainty whether Trump is standing for POTUS or a circus actor. Worth watching right to the end for the full retrospectoscope cringe.

Also worth remembering what Trump had to say shortly after he won- which is that Obama was born in the US so can we please drop it and get on with making America great. Contrast that with the Russia or "some neonazis are fine people" hoaxes repeated as fact by multiple Democrat candidates as recently as this week: they must think you and fellow citizenry are gullible fools.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
