Microsoft and Intel are looking seriously into using Rust instead of C/C++ for systems programming:

https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-to-explore-using-rust/
https://developers.slashdot.org/story/19/08/31/1540225/intel-engineer-launches-working-group-to-bring-rust-full-parity-with-c

The YouTube video at the top of the Intel link has zero production values but has a high level overview of what systems programmers are looking for. Some of the ideas apply when evaluating languages or toolchains for apps as well.

Huh... just noticed "sea change" is an audible pun in this context ;)

Also - maybe we could get a Rust language forum on this site, couldn't figure out which forum/category to choose.
