>>Joseph Welch famously squashed Joseph McCarthy by asking "Senator - have you no shame?"

>>That wouldn't have worked with this degenerate- he doesn't know what shame is.

LOL. Welsh asked that question after McCarthy attempted to "other" an individual named Fred Fisher.

An INDIVIDUAL. Not because of the investigation of the army (a GROUP) in which Welsh was participating, but because of targeting of an individual.

McCarthy's attempt to get Fisher investigated was intended to ruin him by non-stop discovery, legal fees and distraction that would drive him into the dirt.

If you really want to use this example, it ought to be directed at those calling it virtuous to attack/investigate not just any old Fred, but an individual called Donald Trump, and his family, associates and supporters.

I won't do you the disservice of serving it back at you, but I will say that Orwell called it "Memory holing" to try to shroud or alter history to suit a narrative.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
