Operative word here is "play" if you are refering to scientific method and experimental science.
Just questioning things belongs into philosophical arenas... And as you have no control of the experimental setup you do not exercise experimental scientific method.

For me the best to strive for is to keep illogic out of my thinking and at least to try to see my own personal perception filters as well as the media ones.While in "soft" science some brains are good, the whole area is intertwined with quasi-religuos assumptions and beliefs...
