Perhaps I am misinterpreting the question, but lemme give it College try:
If I want to paste setcions with formating and other stuff, when building the select range I include top border area (the letters), which copies the whole columns down, including formating and formulae.

Usually I have a special area reserved for input values, thus giving me options to compare different input values by comparing the sheets - either on the same page or for more series-letter printing (for example weekly bills for a client) I create a lineinfo sheet where each bills variable data are kept on a single line (misusing that sheet as a dbf/table) plus the "printout" page with the standard text (a report in vfp) with a single cell to specify which line in the lineinfo sheet shall be used for printout. Can be enhanced by other cell specifying name of the sheet to use and so on - you might remember the hint on next Excel function to look up ;-))

The lineinfo-setup is also nice to compare long range interest cost, for instance those offered with interest rates either climbing or falling at certain time points. All basic calc, but hard to guesstimate the exact effects of each financial offer.

>I have a section from the main sheet that I need to copy into another sheet. I need to preserve the formulas and the formatting. Is there a way to accomplish that? The closest paste option I have seen is a paste with the format. However, the formulas are being replaced with the values.
