As I used Python double underscore for "really, really private" to mark my internals, I missed those ;-)

But trying to find out what IE3 did, what Ken Levys coded added to it and WTF the DOM really was and what activeX interfaces were implemented where was disastrous for scalp and nerves as object browser was not available, google not even born, Ricks book not written yet...

>Last time I got burned that way was with the advent of textmerge. Carried away with Fox's habit of prefixing its own system variables with a prefix, we did the same with our framework related stuff, and so we had _text, which was the name of the current file into which the code generator was putting out. Then came FP2.0 where _text was the handle of the current file into textmerge went. Which clashed with our usage tremendously - it was immediately a serious bug, because we switched from the "console off, alternate on, alternate to &_text" approach to textmerge, not having read its technical documentation to find out that it uses a _text variable for its own purposes. Took us a couple of days to clean that one out.
