So then I figured I needed to try to bring forward the actual document. Will give it another whirl on Monday and see where I get to.

If you can keep that initial word.application object, then you'll have access to the things related to the window.

I'm frankly amazed Microsoft has never exposed the parent HWND. Seems very odd.
