You can always cook up some metadata table for yourself. The point here is that with descriptions in tables (this way or other) you can easily update them in one place and then just generate/distribute the documents.
Just remembered one version of the generator, which would prepare the html version of the documentation for currently selected table and stuff it into _cliptext, which I would then paste into the project's wiki... and so kept the documentation more or less updated. Someone had to select the table, run the generator on it, open the wiki page for that table for editing, select old contents, paste new instead. At least six steps, therefore not quite automated.
