>>>Uhhh no. There will be no more motorbikes for me -- as last time I was on one I ended up in the hospital for quite a while. It's quite strange to wake up and not be able to recall your own name lol. Instead I'm driving a nice safe Lotus Elise that I picked up a couple years ago. It did snow here one day so I took it to the office (about 5 miles) with snow on the road. I think I might have to pick up an additional automobile to drive because driving a Lotus in the snow is kinda tricky -- and if the snow is ever more than 4 inches deep I'd doubt I'd make it.

>>An Elise can't handle deep snow, but other than that, a vehicle that handles well in the bare & dry will handle well on snow or ice. Just make sure you get the best winter tires (on all 4 corners) and use them when your driving is at 7C or below. Studded tires have come a long way in recent years https://www.wheels.ca/top-ten/debunking-myths-about-studded-tires/ . I'd suggest carrying chains but they might not be practical on an Elise if the wheels are large in the arches.

>>From what I've been able to find online, an Elise doesn't have an LSD, which is too bad (for winter) ...

>And you think that makes a lot of difference ? Mine is a similar car - honda S2000 - has a torsen diff. Still a tricky car in bad weather.

You should be able to answer your own question - you've driven a RWD car without an LSD in snow/ice, yes?
