See my answer to Ian... doable. But you have to pick your approach to a problem with more forethought - with vfp it is easier to fix mistakes made early, rewrites in Java/Dotnet take more effort in my expirience.
And don't forget that vfp GUI also has many warts - since no updates were done, we move around them now by instinct.
