>Schiff and Pelosi are following Newt's playbook. Newt knew he couldn't get Slick Willy out, but all that mud he slung in public had an effect on Gore's chances of beating Bush. It worked.
>Some people I know are actually watching this stuff.

I don't see the parallels to the Gore/Bush result. Gore was significantly weaker than Bush (who wasn't great to begin with) .

I agree that it will take a big stock market drops and/or the economy tanking to make a difference at this point.

Newt could be nasty and I was never a fan of his, but his credentials still far outshine those of Schiff's.

Philbin complete tore apart Schiff yesterday. It's sad that it took the Rs this long to make a cogent case of why Schiff demonstrates Trump's claim of "the swamp" - but Philbin did it eloquently.

I'd bet a steak dinner (but nothing more) this ends with zero Rs switching votes, and 2-3 Ds voting with the Rs.

Trump's actions were deserving of a big censure. Impeachment was always a fragile cast at best, and removal for this is just plain silly.

Believe it or not, I've actually talked personally to some of the Klobuchar people. If there was any D I'd think of helping, it would be her. My point is, I want to see Trump lose in November - by the same electoral process he won in 2016. We don't need to change to a popular vote, we don't need to nullify the 2016 election - we just need to see Trump lose via the same process he won.

Unfortunately, the front-runners on the D side include a jackass (Biden), a phony (Warren), and a well-meaning fool (Sanders). Amy K is the only one who represents any level of competence. But she has zero chance.
