Now that I've launched my old W7 again, for a friend who needed some help, I've noticed the old behavior that never bothered me seriously enough, but now I have the time... so:

I have an icon on the taskbar, which is set to run as admin. The UAC dialog doesn't pop up, it just flashes briefly on the taskbar. OK, I got used to that after a few dozen times. Even when this icon was in startup menu, it wouldn't always get focus, it would randomly also just show on a taskbar. Its attempt to hide everything else in a system-modal way is ridiculous - it does that only when you activate it, meanwhile you can do any kind of mess on the system :). The randomness amazed me. The boot sequence is always the same, I'm not adding and removing things every day. Never mind, sometimes it would just show (with darkening the rest of the screen) and still not have focus(!), sometimes it would sit and blink, waiting for a click. That's all typical Microsoft wanna-pee-wanna-poop undecidedness, which we learned to ignore over the years. Life is too short to waste nerves on that kind of shit.

The part I never understood is: why, oh why does the language bar pop up every time when this UAC dialog comes up? How is my choice of keyboard layout, or any other language service, to help me more efficiently click the Yes or No button? Worse, why doesn't this language bar appear in any other occasion? I've never seen it come up, except in this case when it is completely useless.
