I haven't worked with it myself but a client for whom I do sysadmin work had a semi-custom app built based on Dynamics 4.0 in 2010 for (say) $X. The app was hosted, they saw uptime issues and they had great difficulties trying to get even minor enhancements implemented.
In October 2012 the host quoted my client $1.82X for a required upgrade to Dynamics 2011 (because support was ending for 4.0). After my client balked they came back with a quote at $1.20X "in recognition of the ongoing problems". My client quickly switched to another product; during the search for a replacement Dynamics was specifically excluded as an acceptable platform.
No doubt hosting is a lot more stable these days than it was back then. Still, you might want to ask some lifecycle questions about Dynamics and how major updates and end-of-support issues will be handled. I'd also ask for references to clients who have been through Dynamics updates and have asked for application enhancements.
