>>Don't forget he's been targeted by the full power of the state since before 2016..

Those are your words, and - I'm sorry if this sounds personal- it isn't - they are absurd.
You're a bright guy and I value your ideas, but it would be a good idea if everyone took a deep breath, and listened to what people - on both sides- are saying, carefully and analytically.

For fiscal 2016 the federal budget, give or take a few billions, was around $4 trillion.
Do you really think that all that money was targeted at Trump?
Of course you don't.
But that's what your words imply.
Words, after all, matter.
When we start calling institutions "deep state" we call them into question.
Maybe they need to be called into question but there are mechanisms like oversight, etc. that are designed to deal with that.

Yes, they are tedious and exasperating but what isn't?

When the POTUS skirts those mechanisms and demeans ambassadors, generals, judges and prosecutors when they don't say what he wants them to say, red flags should be waving.

What red flags?

When he attacks what those institutions say the inevitable alternative is that we believe what he says.

Crazy- you say?

We've been here before.

Read "All the King's Men" by Robert Penn Warren or watch the oscar-winning movie.

If you think you can stomach something stronger, read "It can't happen here" by Sinclair Lewis.

Getting rid of Trump won't eradicate the rot that spawned him- that will take a lot of courage- but let's recognize him for what he is.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
Malcolm Forbes, Sr.
