David, The version I saw was Visio Proj 5.0a, so it was way out of date. (the copyright was 1991-1997 so probably supported UML v.90 or .91) I cut this off of the UML Summary available at www.platinum.com/uml:
5.3 SUMMARY OF CHANGES BETWEEN 1.0 AND 1.1 The primary changes between UML 1.0 and 1.1 include: · Increased formalism · Improved packaging structure · Unification of collaboration and interaction semantics · Simplification of the class/type/interface model · Unification of relationship semantics · Extension of model management semantics, including models and subsystems · Extension of use case semantics · Improved mapping of notation to semantics

From my Visio (5.0a) help file:
<snip> Unofficially, UML has become widely accepted as a standard and the Object Management Group (OMG) is considering a proposal for the adoption of UML as the official standard modeling language.
Visio 5.0 Help, Copyright (C) 1997 Visio Corporation. <..snip> As you can see, it was prior to acceptance by the OMG guys.
It's hard to say whether 1.0 is okay or not. I haven't been in UML long enough to really recognize the differences between them. I guess I'm just really anxious to begin in as current an incarnation as possible, as this standard burgeons. The tip-off that my Visio was out of date was that it still showed use-cases as "Jacobsen Use Cases."
