Hi,
I am working on a web form (using ASP.NET) that will work on mobile devices. One of the fields is to allow user to enter a number (specifically a quantity). I have considered using a spinner input number control. I did try it but I would agree with Rick Strahl, who "voted" against using such a control. It is just not easy to enter and not very intuitive.
Then, for testing, I opened my WhatsApp application and imitated enter a telephone number (as I am calling someone). The app, as soon as the field for the telephone number is prompted, shows a numeric keyboard, for enter a number. I am thinking that the same approach for a numeric field would be intuitive. That is, it would allow a user to enter a number fairly easily (e.g. 10, 20, 1, and so on).
So, my question is, do you know what would be a name of such a control, that would open the numeric keyboard on a mobile device? If I know the name, I can Google for a javascript of another type of a widget.
TIA
