>I know many here have worked from their homes for a long time, but others may be just starting to do so, thanks to the pandemic. I wrote up some advice, based on my 30+ years of experience. If you think it's helpful, feel free to share widely: https://medium.com/@TamarEGranor/working-from-home-101-935c079e9bbe

Hi Tamar, great article, thanks for taking the time and sharing it.

I would like to add some regulations that are in place in Germany, not sure if some of these apply also in the US. Certainly they would apply if you were to work for a client in Europe.

The level of regulations depends largely on the type of work and if working with personal information (database backups from client's data) and how sensible the data is. Generally the employer is responsible for keeping the rules.

- The workroom must be lockable.
- Work related documents must be kept separate and locked.
- The IT equipment must not be used for private purposes.
- All drives and usb sticks must be encrypted.
- Passwords must be kept secret.
- If other people live in the same household, the computer must be locked when leaving the home office room also for short moments.
- Workrelated emails must not be forwarded to personal email accounts.
- Have a procedure in place to use and destroy sensitive documents and printouts.
- It may be possible to give access to the employer or data protection authority to be able to control the workspace.
