Hi,

I am using Avast (paid version) of the Avast Premium Security. I updated my activation code in January of this year. And up to now, everything was working well.

Since yesterday, Avast shows the message that my subscription has expired. The Avast tech support (via chat) said that I need to change DNS of my computer. They provided a page that shows the details of how to change the DNS.

My question is, what other "parts" of my PC depend on the DNS? And could they be broken with the change of the DNS?

Currently my Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCI/Ipv4) properties have the option:
x - Obtain DNS server address automatically.

To change it to the x Use the following DNS server addresses, what values do I put in the Preferred DNS and Alternate DNS?

The article provide by Avast suggest to change the DNS to the following values:
DNS provider           Preferred DNS server address           Alternate DNS server address
Cisco OpenDNS          208.67.222.222                         208.67.220.220
Google Public DNS      8.8.8.8                                8.8.4.4
Cloudflare 1.1.1.1.    1.1.1.1                                1.0.0.1

which of the above recommended?

UPDATE. I set the values to Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and Avast started working.
