I agree, 27" and even 32" are not optimal to run in 4K mode. You need your nose too close to the screen.
I have given it a good thought today. The main problem I got with using a 4K monitor is that for it to match 6 full HD monitors, I need 2 of them (8 Full HD monitors), which is taking too much space and I cannot adjust each individual monitor to optimize viewing angles. To mimic the 22" full HD monitors, you need a 42" 4k Monitor, preferably curved. I fear my neck is going to suffer having to look across to 42" monitors next to each other, even when they are curved.
There are some expensive options with ultra wide monitors and purchasing 2 of them, but that seems to be out of my comfort zone as well.
