If we don't agree with someone's ideas is that person rotten?

Let's stipulate that some of her ideas are extreme, or even whacky.
Here's a descendant of immigrants who somehow managed to get through Boston University cum laude.
She had some pushes along the way, but she still did it.
Having experienced some of that myself, I have to look at her and say - "well done"
With her resume, she could be sitting at a fat-cat corporate desk but she's not
Instead, she's annoying people like you- and occasionally - me.
However you want to measure it .. on balance - this is an idealistic, principled woman.
On the other side, we have people like Rand Paul.
I disagree with most of what he says, but he's a sincere, thoughful person and and I look forward to hearing what he says.

Do we really have enough people like them - on either side of the issues?

I don't think so, so let's listen to what they say.
