Some notes:

1) I'll gladly take feedback and suggestions. Please keep in mind I did this in my "spare time", in between my job and family life. Every time I look at this, there are things I want to improve. So this is an on-going project. But I'll happily listen to any suggestions.

2) I'll update this weekly on Monday, after the latest week of status has been published.

3) Right now I'm collecting death and case counts by county across the U.S. My primary source of data is here:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nytimes/covid-19-data/master/us-counties.csv

I've found this information to be reliable. Now, there is a bit of data munging I've had to do. For instance, they are only providing New York City stats for the entire county, not for the five boroughs. I didn't want to have to go fish across multiple websites to get that data, so I'm distributing that number across the five boroughs based on population density.

I've combined daily/weekly case/death counts with county population and land area in square miles.

4) I'm back to writing at CODE magazine and will have an article published that talks about how this was put together. I think every knows this, but just in case, CODE's online articles are free at https://codemag.com/

5) At some point soon I'll put a user guide up there. Actually, I'm curious what kind of feedback I'll get when people try to navigate around and run into issues. Only thing I'll mention: the map on the 2nd page. In some browsers I had to zoom in the U.S. map 1-2 times to get it to look good.

Also, if you want to drill down into a state and get a county breakout, you have to click the small "drilldown" in the upper right hover menu of the map, before clicking on a state. (I provided a note on that on the main page)

OK, feel free to use it. It's all public domain, nothing private or confidential.
