>>>I think you right about age being a factor. For the antibody tests those aged less than 25 the positive rate is about 7.01% while the 25 and older group averages about 4% giving a total rate 4.43%. It is also interesting that the positive test for cases is 51% female to 49% male while the antibody test rate is 4.08% for females and 4.92% for males or almost 25% higher for males.

>Where mass antibody testing is used, so far it invariably reveals higher than expected asymptomatic recovery especially in the young. Meanwhile provocateurs currently allege that young people are more likely to be struck by lightning than to be taken down by COVID, meaning that closing schools may not be the optimum scientific response. If this is true, some politicians should not hope for re-election especially since predominantly elderly victims are shown usually to have at least two other severe comorbidities. Not sure why this might be a surprise; we already knew that at least 75-80% of hospital spend is on people in their last year of life and I suspect some of the politics is driven by the idea that policy can make mortality optional.

>Not sure whether you saw that NZ has eradicated the virus with zero new cases for weeks, so back to Level 1 near-normality today. This is partly due to pandemic response but also confirms the value of a moat for your border as well as size, distance and seasons opposite the Northern Hemisphere. Meanwhile some of the Pacific nations managed to avoid the virus altogether though they're reliant on tourism so not clear what their next steps should be. I expect we'll see a "Pacific bubble" with Australia, NZ, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Nouvelle-Caledonie, Rarotonga etc with mostly internal Schengen but a carefully defended outer moat to exclude the great unclean.

The government here where talking about air bridges to countries with low infection rates . I think thats been dropped now they notice we don't have a low rate. Probably the only countries that would be up for it would be Brazil and the USA.

Additionally they have put in a 14 day quarantine (self administered after travelling anywhere in the UK by public transport) plan for overseas visitors. That would include visitors from Covid free New Zealand.

We are governed by morons.
