Wow. How about the USMCA requirement that at least 40% of manufacturing has to involve >$16/hr wages if the vehicle is for the US? That's expected to add tens of thousands of US jobs- unless Mexico is willing to start paying that rate. Maybe they are, especially since it's averaged and not inflation adjusted. That's the objection of the US steel workers- that it's not high enough to prevent corporates finding a way to continue outsourcing.

Why didn't Trump press for a higher rate? Because the predictable obstructionists would still be dallying as ordered by the beneficiaries of outsourcing if Trump hadn't declared that he's going to cancel NAFTA regardless, so stop obstructing or end up with nothing. The result is not perfect but far better for US workers and irritating for those who profit from outsourcing. There's other hidden gems for the little guy - e.g. reduced de minimis export calculation, to the considerable benefit of small and medium businesses.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
