AFAIK this shoudln't be. It's probably somewhere in IE's temp folders, probably under some obscure name, and it may be deleted as soon as it finishes executing. But it still goes to the disk first. The OS simply doesn't support executing straight from memory, and the installers are mostly self-unpacking executables, so a target folder is probably created first. It's just that IE is M$ and they never tell you.
