Although it's a workaround (as I can't find any code that's doing a COLOR change), introducing SET COLOR TO RGB(0,0,0,255,255,255) is eliminating the "grey rectangle" behind each field in my development area. I'll issue a build for the client Monday morning and see if it also resolves the "dots" issue on their physical printer.
