>> So who knows where that will go.
>>He's the superintendent of schools here and he'll decide what kind of schooling the kids will have here.
>>Leaders step up when there is a tough call.
>>I wouldn't want his job, but I have faith in him. So does the rest of the town here and we'll follow the lead.

There's a disgusting man who also argues that local officials are best placed to make decisions for their people, and he gets pilloried for it by politicians who insist central government needs to take control while simultaneously labeling him a despot or authoritarian.

Meanwhile, take a look at Sweden that had been presented as the international basketcase for refusing centrally mandated lockdowns, instead guiding communities to make their own decisions. You'll need to look outside the MSM narrative to see where they're at (which supports your viewpoint, fwiw).
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
