We spent some time in Freiberg when I visited Baden Baden in 1973 with my family in an Opel with a bad clutch. The Opel belonged to my late wife's cousin in Augsburg.
We stayed at the Grand Selighof in Baden Baden ( I'm sorry to see that it seems to be closed now) and it remains the most elegant hotel I've ever seen.
Freiburg and Baden Baden are truly beautiful.
The people are gracious and the forellen are excellent with a well selected Auslese.
