>>JR, that's not really fair. You passionately defend the status-quo/incumbent at all times :)
KG and his elephantine memory! No doubt you refer to my defense of Obama, e.g. when accused of lying about Obamacare?
I do believe it's foolish to root for the Captain of your aeroplane to crash. Self Interest ought to drive support for the incumbent in an increasingly divided world. For the US, normalised abusive attitudes towards POTUS are most likely irrecoverable. Leadership of the Free World has become a bedtime story for credulous children. Did it to yourselves. You Americans are crazy.
Alternatively: perhaps I'm just a wilful contrarian, flattering myself as a proponent of Greek Democrat tradition?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
