>I recently obtained a new position at my company and they are planning to do some software development in the future(in house at first) and want me to look into using VISUAL BASIC! as a front end to our Oracle databases. Yuk, VB, I am a FoxPro developer with less than 2 years experience developing applications, I owe everything to the Fox, I got my first job because of it. They made me take classes in VB6 and I found out some useful stuff. They have this ADO thing to connect to Oracle without ODBC ( which is why my company want to use it, they say its faster). Does Foxpro have this capability??? I need to know so I can make a case to the comapny of why not to use VB! I am going to tell them we are fully object oriented and that we have a faster jet engine but they say FoxPro is a resource HOG!
>Can someone help me fight this uphill battle? I dont want to leave the FOX, I just got back from Devcon and was really excited about all the new stuff!! I really like what I see and want to learn more...
