I know that you've been working with WinDev in the last years.

I went to a couple of their new version launches. The last time there were major problems with their demo. Don't remember if it was because of the internet connection but still, a demo is always supposed to run perfectly. If you can't do that as en enterprise, it gives me the signal that there could be many problems with what you are trying to sell me :-0

The last times I saw their advertising (marketing) for what is coming in the next version there was always a mention of that new version containing 895 (or around that number) improvements.

That can look impressive but is it true? and before they add that many improvements I want the previous version to be solid. Do they do that?

Last time I looked for percentages of most searches made based on a programming language, VFP had 1%. C# had over 30%

When leaving VFP we don't want to go to another 1% environment. Is WinDev a serious contender to VFP?

We have to take those percentages seriously? Many years ago we had a publicity over here about company making sausages, and it went like this.

"More persons eat our sausages because they are fresher and they are fresher because more people eat them."

Based on that publicity, environment with a low percentage can be interpreted as dying environment or not really used.

I presume that somebody looking at their next development environment for many years won't really consider an environment with a low percentage. Eventually we'll have to look for consultants or new employees. Lower percentage will make our searches more difficult.

In addition, the French version comes out first and there is a large French community (larger than the English community). It connects to any database and can integrate many other languages e.g. Java .Net etc. Lastly, the same syntax you use to write desktop apps is also used for browser solutions and smartphone apps. In fact, they are working on being able to just run your desktop app as a website without code changes and without the need for TSPlus or any other those remote desktop emulation tools. Coming from VFP, WinDev represents the fastest route to getting up to speed. It is almost code line for line comparable to VFP. Every 3rd party tool you have ever had to stick onto VFP is almost certainly available natively in WinDev.
