> I was thinking along the lines of that SCX to dHTML renderer you wrote once upon a time that's probably only remembered now by the likes of you and me. ;-) So not re-writing the underlying HTML5 rendering engine, just hooking into it on each platform. As you might expect I've done that using WW for years at the server, but I'm imagining a native app doing the same thing.

Ten years ago, any disruptive ideas would have been worth analysing and maybe worth developing as a community effort.

Alas, in 2010 the only debate this community was able of was about VFP being good or evil, far from any constructive project. I'm not blaming the community, rather its leaders who have, IMO, failed to build a strategic path that most members could stick to, IOW replace Microsoft as the strategic leader; diversity is fine, but there were so many tracks presented as 'worth examining' that a vast majority of companies whose business rely on VFP are still waiting in square 1.
The basic error was to only consider technical alternatives, without considering the target (desktop, web, mobile, etc.), and sustainable paths to reach that target.
Moving to another language brings no benefit without a sound strategy.

We at FoxInCloud, members of this community for 20 years, have taken the risk (and as RS mentioned it's a big risk), to provide a solution that, without claiming for perfection, provides a safe path to progressively move a VFP desktop app. to a responsive Web-based app. We've faced a lot of skepticism, sometimes aggressive denial, however we could continue expanding and securing FoxInCloud with a handful of clients who've understood the benefit they could get from our product.

Maybe it could be time to start reasoning from the available solutions (including Chen's VFPA), understand how the community can benefit from them, and keep in mind that any company needs sales to fuel its development effort. If all the very creative minds on the forum concentrate on building the future on what has been done, rather that what should or could be done, we'll sure could go much farther and much faster.
