Before we go too much deeper, did you look at the System Restore option in the first link? That might be the quickest and easiest if you have a recent enough restore point.

Other than that, yes, you'll need to find your backup. It will help a lot if you know the name of the backup file you created, or some part of the name, or its extension. For example, at the command prompt you can search for it by going to the root of the drive and then searching all subfolders e.g.
cd \
dir filename.ext /s /p
* or wildcard search such as
dir *.bkp /s /p
