>>IIRC the term "bug" to refer to a problem predates the existence of digital electronic computers.
>>note: use of "digital" and "electronics" is to make sure that I'm referring to an an apparatus that is digital (rather than analog) and electronic (rather than mechanical) and to make sure that I'm not referring to a person (i.e. usage of term "computer" to refer to an occupation).

not always - worked last millenium at an IBM outpost with heavy security back then - leaving clunky cell phones at entry (internet capability with those had already started), own laptops frowned at and with a 10% chance of getting checked for 15 mins at entering or leaving. We were told not to bill for such time, even if it was on their premises, which bugged us right from start.

That place CRAWLED with large bugs behind tapestry, in every cable channel, between room ceiling and next floor, crawling out at night.

We found an empty glass, filled it with 20 or so of them and gave them to security when leaving after notifying that we had found bugs and "documented" that by getting a receipt, as our mobile phones did not sport cameras back then. After that we could work from our offices or home 3 weeks and on check in week could do that from insurance headquarters in Cologne or IBM about 80 km from our offices. Fun times...
