You might look at https://desktop.github.com/ for a UI.

It's easy to use. I've got it tied to a folder where I have a VFP project and it detects when I add new files.

I'm not using and SCX to Text program or anything, but I suspect it will certainly see those text files and send them to GitHub. My project is not complex and I don't need the ability to compare text files.
