Hi,
Currently in my application, when a user specifies their preference for email, there are 2 fields:
SMTP/IP: This is the Exchange Server IP or SMPT name. Example, smtp.companyname.com
Port #. Port # used for email. For example, 587. No port # means default, 25.
I want to eliminate the Port # field and have the user enter the port number in the 1st preference, SMTP/IP. After a column. For example, smtp.companyname.com:587 Or not port, stmp.companyname.com
Does anyone see the downside of specifying the port # in the SMTP/IP instead of a separate field?
UPDATE: I changed my mind. I will not remove the Port # field.
