>The Kavanaugh protesters did _NOT_ invade the Senate buildings. They came in following the rules and they did not have weapons. They were arrested for peaceful protest in the building.

Point of fact, most of the arrests during the Kavanaugh process were arrested for things like crowding, obstructing, etc. I think it's a stretch to say they were "following the rules".

I also think it's asinine for JR to make a comparison, and also asinine for people like AOC to exaggerate what was already a horrible and sad situation. But in both instances, consider the source.

There is another point. The Capitol was open to the public in 2018, but not during the Jan 6 riot.

Having said that, most of the Kavanaugh protestors were doing so under false premises. Trump isn't the only one who can get a mob riled up based on false or misleading premises. Look no further than the ridiculous behavior of some of the Democratic Senators during the confirmation hearings. Klobuchar was one of the few Ds who didn't make a fool of herself.

As for the election, I have zero sympathy for Trump. Zero. He has no one to blame but himself. Had he not made the election about himself, had he not repeatedly made comments about COVID that made him look like an imbecile, he probably would have won. As we got closer to the 2016 election, my gut told me the result would be very close. It was. As we got closer to the 2020 election, it became obvious Trump had no chance, and he has no one to blame.

JR is right about one thing....there IS a swamp. (Sadly, the swamp includes a former president he has defended). The problem is that Trump came along and made the swamp 100x worse. I had a tiny, tiny, tiny speck of hope that Biden would pick a moderate like Klobuchar (or even the New Mexico Governor) as his running mate. That would have been a sign of hope of a return to something a little better. But picking Harris meant there's no hope for his administration.
