>>>>I have read a bit about AOC but have no real idea on Kamala other than having watched her placing second after the fly. As I she has a good chance to be candidate in 24 due to Biden age, might be smart to get some focus on her. What is your beef with her [politics, voting history, personality] ?
>>>
>>>I'll give two replies on Kamala Harris....I'll start with a brief one for right now....you don't need to ask me, ask the Democratic voters back during the primaries what their beef was with her. Her numbers plummeted as people got to listen more to her. Her own party sent a strong message - she went from self-proclaimed front-runner to loser. Even liberal analysts acknowledged that her knowledge of the U.S. economy and health care economics was embarrassing for someone who wanted to run for national office.
>>
>>She was a terrible candidate, for sure. She ran like a candidate for statewide office.
>>
>>She's in a great position to learn what she needs to learn. We'll see how that plays out. Given her past ability to learn on-the-job, I expect she will be ready. Well, as ready as any one can be to take on the Presidency. Biden, with his years as a Representative then Senator and then V-P for 8 years is the best-prepared President we have ever had. We'll see how that plays out, as well.

>Minor correction: Biden was never a US Rep. He served on the New County Council for a couple of years and then was elected to the Senate before his 30th birthday.

>Tiny states like Delaware are interesting because they have more Senators than Representatives and, thus, the pipeline can be strange. The current holder of Biden's old seat, Chris Coons, also never served in the US House. When he ran for Biden's seat (which had been held by the appointed Ted Kaufman since Biden had become VP), he was not expected to win. The sitting Congressman, Mike Castle, who was the former governor, was a huge favorite. But that was 2010, when the Tea Party cost the GOP at least two Senate seats. Castle lost the primary to a woman (Christine O'Donnell was her name, IIRC) who'd talked publicly about being a witch and other nonsense. Coons won and has won reelection twice since.

Argh, thanks for the correction.

Back then talking about being a witch would have been politically fatal. Those were not the good old days, and that's one aspect of normalcy I'd like to see return to politics.
