>>In a criminal trial, sure. As a candidate for a lifetime position on the highest court in the land, he should be above suspicion.

>Then no one is a candidate... How do you feel about Biden? He had a number of women accuse him of wrong advances (and they were not conservatives). Is he above suspicion? Harris too had accusations about her -- is she above suspicion? You are concerned for the supreme court positions; what concern for the highest office in the country (and those that would possibly take the position)? I believe that accusers have to prove guilt; an accusation is not enough to disqualify a person for a position.

First, Biden and Harris are responsible to the voters, and for that matter, the voters knew about the stuff you mention and chose them anyway. Judges are appointed and voters get no say in the matter.

Biden and Harris were elected for four years. Kavanaugh was given a lifetime appointment.

Beyond all that, the particulars of the cases are quite different. There were credible accusations of Kavanaugh having sexually assaulted two women, and his defense was basically "I was drunk a lot and how dare you accuse me of anything!" (In fact, that was one of quite a few performances by men in the last few years which made me ask why people think women are so much more emotional than men.)

With one exception, Biden was accused of being too touchy-feely, that he touches people in non-sexual ways without consent. He acknowledged the behavior and promised to do better. Not great, but not sexual assault. Then, there was that one case, where deep investigation found no sign that it was true.

As for Harris, to the best of my knowledge, she has never been accused of sexual assault. Some people have decided that because she had a relationship with an older, more powerful man, that she must "slept her way to the top." Women are used to hearing this, because virtually every women who acquires power gets accused of that.

Bottom line: apples and oranges.
