>>One Christmas I held the door for a woman loaded down with packages. She stopped and proceeded to calm me a sexist pig etc, etc. Fortunately the door opened outward. I closed it in her face and leaned on it. Toxic femininity.

>Mike a few years ago, I did the same thing. I was doing a SQL Saturday at a college in Connecticut. There were some students in the building that day as well. There was a young woman who was trying to carry a ton of books and folders through some doors. I saw her struggling and walked over to help her. She shouted, NO!!! I said, "No, I just want to help. Let me help you". She shouted, "NO, SUCH ACTS LEAD TO SEXUAL MANIPULATION". There were other people around. Now, I wasn't hurt or bothered - I felt pity for her. And as I learned from Ayn Rand, pity is the lowest form of contempt

Did you ask her if she wanted help or did you just start picking up her stuff? If the former, then she was out of line. If the latter, I understand, though I think if she actually said what you report, it was a bit much.
