The answer is..., wait for it..., i added a separator in front of the first command button.
I don't recommend that you try that at home.

I tried each and every suggestion offered.
Drew Speedie (God rest his soul) said that "Tricks are for Grids".
I guess they are also for toolbars.

What do you mean by "won't stay put"? Do you mean the button changes place with other things on the toolbar or are you talking about buttons repositioning as the toolbar is moved around and reshaped or something else?
