Are they lying or mistaken about the facts, when they wrote "Despite far fewer rules and restrictions, Florida lands nearly in the middle of all states on a variety of coronavirus metrics. The state has had about 3% more Covid-19 cases per capita than the US overall, but about 8% fewer deaths per capita." ?

>>>CNN isn't wrong - but you have to put things in perspective. Being "in the middle" is not like some major success story -- and don't forget the USA has done worse that almost every other country on the planet -- so basically DeSantis is bragging about being average of the worst.
>>
>>So then it's not "rubbish" as you first exclaimed. CNN are correct in their evaluation and Florida is about average in terms of cases and deaths whilst at the same time keeping their economy going which itself will account for a massive benefit to the population, employment, tax revenues, social well-being, education, etc. So it is a relative success story when taking into account both cases+deaths and economic+social costs.
>>
>>iro the comment about how the US has done vs. the rest of the world; that's a different discussion entirely. the CNN article was about the US.

>No the story is rubbish -- it's a GLOBAL pandemic so you can't just single out one country to determine what is successful and what is not - you have to look at the whole world and see what works. Florida is average for failure. It is not a success.

OK, so we back to it being a rubbish story, which is to be expected from MSM. LOL!

But not really - the stats speak for themselves; Florida is about average on case & death metrics for the US in general with less lockdown and more economic activity with all the economic-social benefits of that.

You can change the metrics to compare to but if Florida is average for the US then its relative ranking to other states will not change by comparing it to the world.
