Just heard back from a user - it seems like it might have started for her when her IT department switch her to a Mac that then she logs into a VDI session to do her daily work. So it could be something the Mac or the VDI session software is doing.
Re Macs: not my idea of smart planning - pay for all new Macs and then pay for licensing Win desktops on a VDI server (VMWare) and then pay for a license to remote into the VDI session (something called "Jump"). It was supposed to simplify things. The only thing I can say is that I have heard (but not experienced) is that Macs have less maintenance overall - so that might help their IT department.
