>Having spanned much of the competing era as various fireflies outshone brightly before disappearing, there's all sorts of calculators, puzzles and conventions embedded in VFP that are mostly forgotten today until they bite and probably would be handled differently if starting afresh. I just reflect that perfect is the enemy of good and press on.
About nine years ago I had to teach my daughter VFP. Since she wouldn't be doing any gui, her task was just bizobjects and webpages, all I had to cover was dealing with SQL, cursors, records, data manipulation and classes/objects. And even in that limited area I've found dozens of things that sometimes even in the help are clearly labeled as junk, i.e. "do not use this". Few others I marked as junk, saying "skip that, obsolete".
I think by just making a list of commands and functions one has ever used and then stopped because of their obsolescence, the age in fox years can be determined.
Just realized I used sys(2000) with and without the third parameter in 1989. Tried it now and it still works. Under linux.
