Thanks for the link, I admit, I'd never heard of Nightwish before.
I randomly sampled a few tracks on YouTube and my first reaction was, a "meh....I've heard this kind of sound before, nothing special". Not bad, just didn't strike me as interesting.
But then I listened to some of their newest music (on "Human Nature") and thought, "wow, I actually like this", and actually played the entire album. So thanks.
Not that Nightwish is anything like this group, but I did not like the early Red Hot Chili Peppers (and even when they had some commercial success, I wasn't crazy about them). But then they did an album in 2002 ("By the Way") that was still fairly hard-edge, but with a melodic touch. It was "adult rock", but not "old people rock". When I listened through "Human Nature", that was sort of my reaction as well.
(Sadly, RHCP went from adult rock to adult sewage, but that's a different story)
